Papastratos entrusted Danezis Stories with transforming 95 years of corporate and industrial history into its first legacy documentary. Led by Sotiris Danezis in narrative strategy and direction, the project began with extensive historical and journalistic research and evolved into a 70-minute film built around rare archival material and first-hand testimony from 24 people across different generations. Filmed across Agrinio, Piraeus, Aspropyrgos, Heraklion, Metsovo and Lausanne, the documentary traces the company’s journey from 1931 to the present, placing its defining decisions, transformations and people within the wider social and economic history of Greece. Danezis Stories shaped the project end to end, from research, story architecture and interviews to the film’s visual language, post-production and final narrative.
When 95 Years Reached the Screen
On September 10, 2026, the documentary premiered at Olympion in Thessaloniki, as part of Papastratos’ presence at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair. For the first time, the company’s 95-year journey was presented to a wider audience through a single cinematic narrative, bringing together personal testimony, historical records and memories that had remained scattered across generations.
A Return to Olympion
The venue carried a particular significance for director Sotiris Danezis. Twenty years earlier, in 2006, he had stood in the same theatre with his then team from Mega for his first participation in the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. He returned to Olympion with a different kind of documentary, built around the people, decisions and turning points that shaped nearly a century of industrial history. “When Papastratos entrusted us with its story, we knew from the beginning that we were dealing with one of the most important chapters in the industrial history of the country.”
