Protothema: Papastratos 95Y – This Is Our Story”: An Anniversary Documentary Told Through Its People

The anniversary documentary marking 95 years of Papastratos, directed by Sotiris Danezis and produced by Danezis Stories, tells the story of a company shaped as much by its people as by its milestones. It traces a journey defined by growth, difficult decisions, periods of change, and moments that left a lasting mark on the organisation.

From Agrinio in the late 19th century to the present day, with Papastratos now part of Philip Morris International and undergoing a major period of transformation and innovation, the film connects past and present through the people who carried that history forward. Across generations, the same emphasis on people, care and responsibility remains part of the company’s identity.

There is a moment at the end of every screening when the audience decides what the film has meant to them. At the documentary’s premiere at Olympion Cinema on Thursday, September 10, the response was immediate: a long and emphatic round of applause after 70 minutes of history brought to life on screen.

“It was the first time we had shared our story with the public,” said Papastratos CEO Tina Davou. “And that story is more than a record of events. It is the journey of the company, its people and the decisions that have shaped it over the years.”

The film follows that journey across time and place, placing Papastratos’ history alongside the wider story of Greece itself. Sotiris Danezis takes the narrative back to its earliest chapters in the late 19th century, before moving through the events, choices and transformations that brought the company to the present day.
